Designer ~ Sissy Watson

Sissy Watson is an accomplished designer whose jewelry includes many one-of-a-kind pieces, and each piece is handcrafted in her studio. Combining her love of unique jewelry and an eye for design, she finds balance in life through creative expression.

Most of the collection is created from sterling silver, fine silver, or gold-filled sheet and wire, but Sissy also designs with 18 karat gold, gold vermeil, copper, and brass. Colorful gems – including chalcedony briolettes, opal, quartz drusy, aquamarine, black onyx, moonstone, and topaz – are a signature in her work.  Sometimes she starts with a sketch, but more often Sissy depends on a particular stone or other object to lead her along in the design process.

Sissy has studied metalsmithing for more than three years and still enjoys learning new processes and techniques. She has attended the Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts (Gatlinburg, Tennessee) and has studied under Andy Cooperman, a nationally renowned metalsmith, writer, and teacher.  She has also expanded her stone setting skills with instruction by Blaine Lewis and by Joanna Gollberg, and has completed a course in metal foldforming with Charles Lewton-Brain.  Her jewelry has been exhibited at a variety of juried art shows and has been sold in boutiques and fine craft galleries throughout the southeastern United States.  Sissy lives in Louisville where she designs from her home studio.
